Fundraising for INF Scholarships

Today, an inability to afford a nursing education is preventing many bright, talented individuals from entering our noble profession.  INA members understand the important of raising awareness of our profession and the benefits we provide to so many Iowans considering the profession.  The Iowa Nurses Foundation supports our mission by offering continuing education classes and, most importantly, nursing scholarships. This year, we need to raise $6000 to fund scholarship requests.

In lieu of a silent auction or raffle to raise funds for the INF Scholarships, we are asking members to make a cash donation to our “Raise the Thermometer” Campaign both now and during 2017 INA/INF “Healthy Nurse Healthy Iowa” Conference on October 20 in Ankeny, Iowa.

Thank you for helping us reach our goal of $6000 to fund nursing scholarships.

INA Member Rosemary Holland Shares How She Continues to Give Back

Rosemary Holland gave selflessly to her patients and profession for more than 40 years as a staff nurse, nursing educator and public health nurse. Now retired, she continues to give back through the Iowa Nurses Foundation.

A donor and member of the Iowa Nurses Association since the 1970s, Holland gives because, “Nursing is a wonderful profession. There is a multitude of opportunities available to nurses today. I loved it when I did it.”

Now is a critical time to give.

But Holland also has practical reasons for donating. According to a recent report, Iowa hospitals are not only still facing serious nursing shortages but also 21% of Iowa’s aging nurses are eligible to retire.

In addition, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has recommended the nursing profession increase the number of registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing to 80% by the year 2020.

According to Holland, having more nurses with bachelor’s degrees “will lift our profession.” She added, “It’s important for nurses who want to obtain an additional degree or those wanting to become nurses to have some financial support. Iowa Nursing Foundation scholarships do that.”

Like Rosemary Holland, your gift to the Iowa Nurses Foundation can help someone follow in your footsteps and become a nurse or continue his or her studies.

Please consider making a safe and secure on-line donation today at or make a donation in person during the 2017 INA Annul Convention, October 19 & 20 in Ankeny, Iowa.

Honor Posters

Honor a nurse for a special reason (nursing achievement, regional award, or memorial) or share the occasion with friends or family, and contribute to the Iowa Nurses Foundation scholarship fund. The funds will be used for nursing scholarships and educational activities of the Iowa Nurses Foundation.

This year we have a new opportunity for people wishing to honor a nurse.  Reserve a 18 x 24 poster to be displayed during the whole annual meeting with a description of the person you are wishing to honor, a few words about the award receiving or description of the reason why honoring that nurse as well as a full color photo of the individual.
