legislative alert

INA Members. The Iowa legislative session is winding down. There still is no bill for expenditure of the tobacco settlement funds. The Iowa Nurses Association seeks to have those funds spent on health services, especially for increasing funding for public health nursing (to assist the middle income Iowans to stay in their homes) and increasing the reimbursements for health services under the Medicaid program. Tell your own story of people needing health services from public health nursing and the Medicaid program and why health services are needed by Iowans.

PLEASE contact your legislator as soon as possible. The session is tentatively scheduled to end April 18.

If you do not know your legislator, go to "Voicing Nursing Interests" and go to State Capitol Whiz. Put in your zipcode and you will be advised of your legislator.

Then call, write or email your Senator and Representative.

A message can be left in the Iowa Senate at 515/281-3371 and in the Iowa House of Representatives at 515/281-3221.

A letter can be sent to each care of: State Representative/Senator, State Capitol, Des Moines, IA 50319

An email can be sent to them by going to the legislative website http://www.legis.state.ia.us/Members/78GA-members.html and clicking on the word Senators or Representatives listed on the page for the email addresses of the Senators and Representatives.

PLEASE ACT TODAY. ASK YOUR COLLEAGUES TO SPEAK UP FOR INCREASED FUNDING FOR HEALTH SERVICES FOR IOWANS TODAY.

Please let the INA office know of the responses you receive back. Thank you for advancing health care in Iowa.
