On-line License Renewal and License Verification

The Iowa Board of Nursing has rolled out a new Internet online license renewal program. The new process will allow licensees to know immediately whether their license has been renewed and when the license will be printed. On-line license renewal is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and it can be accessed from anywhere in the state, the country or the world. The program is accessed at www.state.ia.us/nursing .

To renew online you will need: a) License number, b) valid credit card, c) social security number, d) continuing education credit, and e) date of birth.

To verify the status of a license: Enter the license number or social security number to retrieve licensure status information. Both systems can be used by nurses and employers to verify the status of a nurse’s license.

Also on the Iowa Board of Nursing website is information about the Iowa ANNI (Automated Network of Nursing Information) which allows an individual to call the main telephone line (515/281-3255) to verify licensure status by license number or social security number and retrieve information about license renewal, reinstatement or activation.
